While terming China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a game changer for the economy of the country, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has urged universities of the country to prepare the students for reaping the expected economic benefits of this nationally important project.
He made these remarks while addressing as chief guest at first international conference on “Computer Science & Allied Technologies”. The conference organised by Garrison University Lahore was also addressed by Vice Chancellor of the university, Major General (retd) Ubaib Bin
The president said that CPEC will not only connect the regional countries of South, Central and West Asia but will also help promote a culture of economic cooperation free from confrontation among the regional countries.
He urged the universities, both in public and private sectors to prepare the students for taking maximum advantage from the projects like CPEC by imparting them education compatible with the needs of the immediate future.
He said that besides China Pakistan Corridor, there is also another big mega multi bullion Project launched by Chinese leadership and it is called Road and Belt Initiative that covers three continents, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The president said that some 80 countries have subscribed this initiative and about half of the world population lives in these three continents.
The Belt and Road Initiative, he added will also benefit Pakistan in many ways. China is investing one trillion dollars in the infrastructure building.
He said that AJK government is making optimum use of computer technology by linking many of its departments including the higher judiciary, department of land record and driving license issuing department with computer technology.
He said that AJK has five public sector universities and one of them is full-fledged information technology university while others four also have information technology departments.
The President congratulated the administration of the university for making spectacular achievements in a very short period of time since its inception.
