MUZAFFARABAD: Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja took oath as Chief Justice (CJ) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) High Court here on Wednesday after notification to this effect was issued by the AJK law, justice, Parliamentary Affairs and human rights department.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan administered the oath of office to Justice Sadaqat Hussain at a well-attended ceremony at Aiwan-i-Sadr.
Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, some cabinet members, Chairman Public Accounts Committee of AJK Legislative Assembly Abdul Rashid Turrabi, former judges of High Court and Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan Raja Khalid Mahmood Khan attended the ceremony.
Chief Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja was born on June 9, 1963, in Khairabad village of district Muzaffarabad. After completing his early education, he graduated from Azad Jammu and Kashmir University in 1985 and received the degree in Law from Punjab University Lahore in 1988.
He was elected Secretary General of the Central Bar Association Muzaffarabad four times in 1989, 1991, 1993 and 1997 and later President of the Central Bar in 2003, 2004, and 2007. Chief Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja was appointed judge of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court on March 25, 2016, and acting Chief Justice of the High Court on May 10, 2021.
